Aleksandra Vojvodic, Associate Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, was featured in the American Chemical Society’s publication ACS Energy Letters in a special edition that showcased women scientists at the forefront of energy research.

ACS Energy Letters publishes scientific papers that report new advances in all areas of energy research; this special digital issue celebrates female energy researchers and the “aha” moments that propelled their work. The issue is centered around personal stories and Vojvodic was recognized for her tenacity in pursuing science as a career after multiple people around her discouraged her from a career in STEM. Her interdisciplinary career in physics, material science, and energy research led her to her professorship at Penn, where she has been recognized for her innovative thinking towards energy solutions.

“Throughout my scientific career,” Vojvodic says, “I have learned that the most important attributes of a scholar are to dare to take on challenges, identify opportunities, and persist when obstacles intervene.”
