Vijay Ramanujan Cooks Up Plans for the Future of Penn Engineering

Dual-degree student Vijay champions change within Penn Engineering while serving up a taste of home

Vijay Ramanujan, who originally hails from Singapore, is the president of the Engineering Deans’ Advisory Board (EDAB) and a dual-degree student in Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics and in Finance at The Wharton School. What are some of Vijay’s big goals for the year? He is eager to set up a strong mentorship infrastructure within EDAB and to create a syllabus bank for Penn Engineering students so they can gain insight on courses before registering.

With such big goals, Vijay needs something to fuel his hard work, and what better than food from his hometown to keep him motivated?

When asked where he gets good Singaporean food in Philadelphia, Vijay replied, “Club Singapore.” The supper club meets as often as they can given their busy schedules. Vijay and his fellow members prepare foods like bee hoon (rice noodles), roti prata (South Indian flatbread), and laksa (spicy noodle soup). Together, home doesn’t feel so far away.
