EDAB Member Vijay Ramanujan on Stress-Baking and Positive Thinking
As students across Penn Engineering are adjusting to remote learning and challenges as a result of COVID-19, Vijay Ramanujan, senior in Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics and member of the Engineering Deans’ Advisory Board (EDAB), shared how he is navigating this unexpected situation with us as part of our “Share Your Story” project. The goal of the initiative is to use the power of storytelling to bring the Penn Engineering community together.
Like many of us, Vijay has been doing some stress-baking, but also had some words of encouragement to share with his fellow students: “It’s a difficult time for many, but I’ve found it helpful to remember that we all can get through this by supporting one another, and with a good dose of positive thinking. For instance, social distancing doesn’t mean cutting off contact altogether — Skype calls and Netflix parties are helping me stay connected with my friends from Penn. And instead of fearing what I’m missing out on, I’m focusing on all the things I’m grateful for: opportunities to connect with roommates or family, not having to get dressed and commute, more time to read, and close proximity to my bed and my refrigerator.”
It’s more important than ever that we amplify one another’s voices and we want to hear from you. Learn more about the project and share your story here.
