Penn Community Collaboratory for Co-Creation (Penn4C), an initiative led jointly by the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing (Penn Nursing) and the School of Engineering and Applied Science (Penn Engineering), recently hosted its Annual Awardee Celebration, highlighting innovative projects addressing health care needs and social justice for marginalized and low-resource communities. The event recognized the achievements of researchers, faculty, students, and community advocates committed to co-creating technological solutions that challenge structural inequalities.
The Penn4C Collaboratory is dedicated to fostering interdisciplinary education, with a long-term vision to bring together students from SEAS, SON, and other disciplines across all academic levels—undergraduate, graduate, and post-doctoral—to collaborate on innovative solutions.
Over the past year, Penn4C has invested $383,635 in funding for eight research projects. These initiatives are designed to meet the unique needs of diverse populations, including youth, senior citizens, and homebound adults within Philadelphia communities and beyond.
Since its inception, the Collaboratory has launched five projects in 2023, with three additional projects introduced this year, showcasing Penn4C’s growing commitment to creating impactful advancements through community-centered research and technological innovation.
